About the event

Join us for an introductory presentation on backyard composting in South Florida. We’ll cover how to start your pile, what to add to your pile, and how to turn it into a finished soil amendment. Along the way we’ll learn a bit about where food scraps go when we throw them away and how they’re managed.

To help prepare, you can start collecting and freezing your food scraps today. Please bring in pictures of your frozen food scraps and where you plan to start your compost pile.

Presenter Bio: Kevin Kijanka is an avid backyard composter and a founding member of Compost Club. He holds two engineering degrees and has nearly a decade of experience working in the solid waste industry. He is a member of the US Composting Council (USCC) and has completed the USCC Compost Operations Training Course.
